Sunday Sausage Links 1/17/10

Something we'll try and do periodically is provide some of the articles from around the web and the blogosphere that we might be reading and that you should take a look at. OK, so it's not like we're the first blog in history to have a links article. But, that doesn't mean it won't be in the top 75 percentile of links articles! Today's links are brought to you by Deuce McAllister, who led the Saints onto the field yesterday. Y1 has an unhealthy man crush on Deuce, but I'm sure we'd both fall into a deep depression if the Saints lost to the Vikings next week. Plus, we have an inherently cool name... here's your Sunday Sausage Links...

News

GQ's stunning expose about the Philly shooting that may involve Marvin Harrison. Maybe the most underreported story of the year. (GQ)

Chicago baseball writer Bruce Levine on Greg Maddux moving to the Cubs' front office. (ESPNChicago)

US Soccer star Jozy Altidore is one of several athletes affected by the Haiti earthquake. Don't forget you can text Haiti to 90999 for a 10$ donation added to your phone bill. It's a quick and easy way to help people so desperately in need. (Fanhouse)

Is the most popular sports league in the world living on borrowed time? (UK Guardian)

I remember visiting Fox Sports' website a lot more often when they had Dime Magazine. Their Daily Smack is one of the best NBA reads around. (Dime Mag)

Blogs

Little did I know when we started our NBA Heat Check... NBA Jam is back! I want to be Brian Skinner and Steve Novak! (Rumors & Rants)

UK stays unbeaten, holds off Auburn. As a Wildcats fan, the John Calipari era is off to a pretty good start, until this year's title is taken away in a decade. (Strait Pinkie)

Some Winter Olympics TV info from Awful Announcing, you can bet we'll cover hockey and curling. (Awful Announcing)

Yard Yoder covers This Week in Baseball at The Nats Blog. (TNB)

Jose Offerman is at it again. At least this time he didn't use a bat, but I don't think a boxing career is in his future. (Deadspin)
