YCS Fantasy Playoff - Semifinals and Final

We've made it to the semifinals and final of our YCS Fantasy Playoff! With the "National Championship" still weeks away, find out now who would win if college football had the guts to decide their champion in a playoff. Call it an early Christmas present from Randall Simon's Sausages!

The Rules (as a reminder):
The rules of the YCS fantasy playoff are simple.
1) Instead of a boring old 8 or 16 team tournament, the YCS Fantasy Playoff is a 10-team tournament, featuring the conference champions of the 6 current BCS conferences and 4 at-large selections.
2) In a concession to the BCS conferences for accepting such a playoff, each of the major conference champions earns a bye into the Round of 8, or our first round.
3) The 4 at-large selections play two preliminary round games to earn their way into the Round of 8. The two matchups in the preliminary round will be determined through a random draw.
4) The Round of 8 will be reseeded after the preliminary round according to the final regular season YCS standings.
5) The tournament is single elimination, with each game played at neutral bowl game sites.

The Teams
The 6 conference champions earning a bye into the Round of 8 are:
Big 12: Texas
SEC: Alabama
Big Ten: Ohio St.
ACC: Georgia Tech
Big East: Cincinnati
Pac 10: Oregon
*These 6 were joined by preliminary round winners TCU and Florida
(Disclaimer: Results are based on the highest tech mental simulations of the YCS Committee)

Semifinals
(1) Alabama vs. (5) Florida
-It's a rematch of the past two SEC Championships, Alabama and Florida play in the first of the YCS semifinals. Don't tell me the ratings for the third matchup in this trilogy wouldn't pay off in the ratings department. This time, Florida would have the services of selfish lawbreaker Carlos Dunlap, which would put some more pressure on 'Bama QB Greg McElroy. But still, the hard running of Mark Ingram and the great Alabama defense would still be in tact. This third game would be more low-scoring, but Alabama would still pull it out, again putting an end to Tim Tebow's national title hopes. Cry for me just a little more Timmy!

(2) Texas vs. (3) TCU
Our other national semifinal is a battle of Texas between the establishment program Texas and the upstart TCU. While Texas has gotten to the semifinal, their near debacle in the Big 12 title game will finally come back to haunt them. While TCU doesn't have a single player as dominant as Ndamukong Suh, their defense as a whole is just as stout. And, you can bet their offense led by QB Andy Dalton will actually resemble a D-I offense, unlike the Cornhuskers. Yes, call us anarchists, but we're picking the upset.

The Final
(3) TCU vs. (1) Alabama
Finally, a national title game nobody could argue with, because it would have been decided on the field! Both teams undefeated, both would have earned their way into the national championship game. As far as the game itself, if a playoff like this were to occur, the winner would be college football. But, since we have to come up with a winner, why not pick the upset? While Alabama's accomplishments can't be taken lightly, what's the point of having a fantasy playoff if the final winner isn't a realistic possibility? So, why not? TCU narrowly wins the national championship!

We hope you've enjoyed our version of a D-I playoff in college football! Are we out of our minds by picking TCU to win it all? Would they have a chance if there really was a playoff? Who do you think would win it all? Join us for our NFL recap and the continuation of our Top 10 Stories of the Decade! Merry Happy! Bye for now!
